Ken:

I doubt anyone here can answer your question. Why? Because you're dealing with the interpretation of web pages and without some work, we can't get the web page source to make an educated guess as to what's going on. Moreover, while I suppose one could dig into the NVDA source, we don't have access to JAWS source code so don't know the details of what assumptions JAWS makes or how it interprets things when parsing through web pages.

I simply boycott pages that don't work well; I don't need the headache and the people who maintain them therefore don't need my money.

Hi NVDA discussion and gui talk lists cross posting because this is a baffling one. on the music site called blip.fm I can only use system access to go and then only on internet explorer without problems. when I try using jaws it can see it but only partially. to give you an idea of what I’m getting at let’s say I go to blip FM and want to blip a song to my profile. you will see an edit field that says what artist or song do you want to blip. I’ll use a recent blip as an example. just now blipped Rachel sweet’s version of the song shadows of the night made famous a year later by pat benatar. I’ll mke sure the song’s link works by hitting preview. the list will read blip, the song title, preview in that order. on jaws and IE it sees the titles and the blip and the preview but not as links. on firefox even with webvisum it really has trouble with jaws. on NVDA this is the funky one. only on firefox can I blip and move around but only for a couple actions. so after I have posted the rachel sweet song, I hit next. the next blip in what ever grouping I’m in in this case favorite DJs will play, I have the option of giving the DJ props for the song, reblipping it myself or hitting next. After about two or three actions of this type for some kooky reason even in a links list view when I attempt an action like reblipping somehow I end up hitting advertising inquiry email and windows live mail comes up or sometimes I’ll go into another area of the blip site even though the song is still playing. just now somehow even in a list view I found myself on nortorn internet antivirus even though clearly I had boxed the links and hit next. clearly it said next and I up and down arrowed to be sure. it is as if it reads one thing and clicks another. to focus NVDA’s attention I have to alt ctrl N to quickly stop and restart it. only with System acccess to go it there not a hitch. Basicly the blip site is a cross between an internet radio station and twitter. a blip is a song plus a 150 character or less message. you also can send songs as reply by typing an at sign and a DJ’s name to say this song reminds me of you. you earn credits for songs you blip, also any time something of yours is reblipped. I now have over 940 songs up there now and 530 credits and 201 listeners now. so the question is this. what is so different about blip that only SA to go will work right with it and why in NVDA’s case is it not able to focus properly after performing two or three actions on the site. how does stopping and restarting NVDA restore that focus? updating NVDA doesn’t seem to help since this is updated from late last year because of a harddrive failure. SA to go is really not affective any more because they have decided to use Espeak as the default. that is simply put one of the worst systhesizers I have ever heard. thanks, Ken.
