Mike,
I got it. I know what the function does, I just didn't know how it got
turned on or how to turn it off. But Chris Judge on Jaws Lite explained
that.
And here I was, ready to do a Jaws repair...

It means that conversations are grouped by thread (subject) so that you can
quickly go thru them or delete the threads you don't wish to read -- hitting
DELETE on a collapsed thread deltes deletes all the messages in that thread.
You hit right-arrow to expand the messages although they're probably still
grouped by conversation. I think you just hit Control-H again to reverse the
action.

I'm a longtime OE user, but I've never deliberately made use of this
feature.
But just now I mistakenly thought I was in Internet Explorer, and pressed
control h to bring up history. But I was in OE, and suddenly some of
the messages in my inbox said collapsed. What does that mean? How can I
return OE to just normal?
