A good idea, and that would give people more jobs.

Just my two cents worth here but if third party solutions for
solving this problem exist that depend on human volunteers there will always
be problems from time to time.

I don't know if such a service is viable but what about some kind of
subscription service that will pay people to sit and solve captias at least
during regular business hours. Let's say a site that is on-line from 9 till
5 every business day that pays the captia solver minimum wage. That would
cost $16,000 a year. That's 1,000 subscriptions at $16 a year. Let's add
#3,000 for a cushion. That makes it a subscription of around #20 a year per
user.

Even though the blind community isn't the most prosperous in the world taken
as a hole a $20 a year fey is a little more than a cost of a steak dinner.

This isn't a perfect answer and what I've outlined above isn't a long-term
solution but it is at least a possible stop gap measure till some kind of
permanent solution can be put into place.
