[gui-talk] Windows 7 and total loss of sound

It is not simply loss of speech that I experience, but loss of all sound.
The machine does not freeze, there is just no sound. I use Window-Eyes, but
it does not help to close Window-Eyes and restart it with its hotkey; there
is still no sound. I have to reboot to get sound back again.

I thought it was just something on my PC, but it seems that it is a known
issue. If so, why does Microsoft not fix it?

It is extremely annoying when this happens and it is completely random. All
can be fine for days on end and then it can happen twice on a day.

Please let us know should anyone hear of a fix.

I do also experience this problem on my laptop computer running windows 7 64
bit with JAWS version 12.0.  my issue isn't that major though. I can just
unload JAWS by hitting the required keystrokes  and then turning him back on
with the hot key I've assigned to it, and sound works fine. There are a few
times where I do have to restart my computer, but other than that, it is
exceptional.

Has anyone ever discovered a solution to the total loss of sound with
Windows 7?
I believe this is a known issue with Windows 7 where sound simply stops at
random times.
I have tried changing sound cards and making sure drivers are up to date
with no improvements.
