[gui-talk] Navigon for the iPhone

Collective wisdom on the iPhone list suggests either Navegon or a much less
expensive one called Voxtrek. It is easier to enter destination addresses
into Navegon. I have only used it a time or two. It gave us a circuitous
car route when a straightforward one was possible. Some people on the list
swear by it. It will give turn-by-turn directions, in the sense that you
can either generate a list of directions, or have it tell you when to turn
when you approach the turn. It is nowhere near as verbose as the Sendero
programs for other platforms. For instance, you can't have it tell you what
interesting places you're passing as you go by.

Subject: [gui-talk] Navigon for the iPhone

Hello, everyone.

I note in the description of Sendero GPS LookAround a passage that says it
can be used to indicate points of interest in one's vacinity while running a
GPS package such as Navigon in the background. This immediately suggests
the following query: has anyone used Navigon on the iPhone? If so, how
accessible was it, i.e., were the buttons well-labled and could one make
sense of the screens without viewing the fancy maps?

If Navigon is a pain, has anyone found another GPS or way-finding app on the
iPhone that works well with VoiceOver?

T I A!

Mike
