Does your computer also go silent if you open up an existing email and try
to read it?

I have this new computer and you are going to get sick of my
questions. But, this one completely stumps me.

It is Windows 7, 64-bit, JAWS 11, and I am using Microsoft Office 2003.
Using Outlook for email.

Twice, now, while writing a response to the same person, the computer just
stops talking and I can't finish my email. Just before that, I get the
occasional "ping" like I'm making some improper keyboard command ut, all I
have been doing is typing? Oh, and Norton is on the computer, if that might
help you figure out what is happening? Is there some setting in Outlook
that is limiting the length of the email or is some other possible limiting
factor out there that I don't know about? My JAWS is authorized and I
shouldn't be losing that. Any thoughts? Sorry if this is a really stupid,
veague question.
