Hi, if you use the roter setting, one of the choices is characters. Once this is set, flicking up and down will move character by character. One difference worth noting, when flicking up the cursor is before the character that is spoken, and when flicking down, the cursor is after it. So, if you flick up and then flick down, the first time the same character will be spoken.
