Can you successfully use MS Word (for Mac, I presume) with Voice Over? How 
much goes it cost to buy and install Word on a Mac?

I heard that VO is nice in that it gives almost full access out of the box,
but that the process of getting things done is a little more cumbersome on
the mac -- more keystrokes and key combinations to learn.
Can VO be scripted or trained to do some common things quickly in specific
applications?

Frankly, It's way more than a mere screen reader.  Voice Over is built right
in to the operating system.  If you want to really get a good idea of the
things you can do with the Mac, I'd go here to listen to Mike's wonderful
work on it:
