[gui-talk] Outlook Express files

Hi Evelyn...
They are in a hidden directory at
C:\documents and settings\loginName\local settings\application
data\identities\encryptedName\Microsoft\outlook express

You can unhide these directories in the folder options. You can also get
this long folder name by going to tools/options in outlook express to the
maintenance tab and click on storage folder. OE even lets you change this
folder to something else, if you want to keep your dbx mail files in a
different place.

Anyway, unless you have a tool to scan or extract things from dbx files, OE
is the only way to open and use them. However you do need to copy them for
backups. If you do this be sure to copy all of them as some files there
contain state information.

Another way to backup OE is to use the now obsolete eBackup utility. If it
is no longer available on the net, let me know and I'll send it to you. It
also has some jaws scripts, which help but don't work very well.
Cheers.

Subject: [gui-talk] Outlook Express files

Hi,

Exactly where does Outlook Express store its mailboxes. I need to
copy the main inbox and its table of contents file. Thanks.

Evelyn
