I've done that, too. It's all over now, Baby Blue. let's forget it.

Hi Albert -- well the only problem with that is that the mp3 songs have file
names that start with the track number on the album -- 06 or 11 or whatever.
So first letter navigation doesn't make much sense.
What I was wondering, is there a way to search for a file name containing a
string and ending with .mp3? like maybe *sunset*.mp3 or whatever.

If so, this would make it possible to narrow the search.

Joel, your estimation of the degree of difficulty using Ray's method: using
the file name isn't as hard as you believe. When the search list comes up
you can review it with the links list key insert F7 or I think first letter
navigation so you won't have to read that many file titles.

Ray, yes and besides I *said* I'd done that. I said so in one of my own
emails, some time ago. No offense. I mean, Wayne just suggested that even
though, as I say, I'm sure I offered earlier that I'd run a search, and I
mean vigorously, using all sorts of input. Let's just let it go, okay?
They'll call me, I'll ask for their permission to try it again at no charge,

and this will have been an interesting and educational experience I wouldn't

even have had time for if I were saner and more conventionally
well-occupied. To be honest.

thanks again,

Has anybody suggested that you use windows+F and then type in part of the
file name? If that doesn't work, I don't know what else to tell you.

Wayne,

First first of all, if I could simply remember the exact path that was there
originally, why couldn't I simply change it back in Preferences? But that's
a moot question, because I can't remember exactly how that goes and it
doesn't stay around in a combo box or anything like that once you've typed
something else in that field. So if for no other reason, your suggestion is
the only way I could return that to the default.

That said, where's the logic, here? I mean, the files are already somewhere
on my hard drive, I suppose, even though I can't find them. Or vanished into
thin air in the course of being downloaded, which my account says was done
successfully.

So I mean, how is changing the destination back to the default going to move
those files back to where they're meant to to reside? Such a thing wouldn't
happen if I were to change the download destination in my usual IE download
function. Files I'd already downloaded would stay just where I'd put them,
originally. They wouldn't be moved somewhere else simply because I changed
the target path in the IE function.

thanks for thinking this through with me. I'd like to understand the logic
of the thinking or how tithing work.

BTW, I used the internal messaging system on Amazon mp3 help last night to
write and explain my problem and request to be called by phone. that should
get me someone to do business with over this issue. Oddly, when you press
Send Message there, the page doesn't seem to change (not that I could hear
with Jaws, anyway) and you don't get a new page that says Thanks for ending
Your Message. Or anything like that, for confirmation. The page stays the
same, as if you've never pressed the send button. So I pressed it again.

Left me a little troubled, though, as you may imagine.

Joel: have you considered redownloading the Amazon downloader software
again, but this time not changing the default download location?
perhaps by doing this, you'll be abel to find your music again.
