So I uninstall Avast! antivirus program plus Super Anti Spyware, leave
Windows Defender alone because this new thing recognizes and incorpirates
it. Do I have it straight, now?

Okay, I need to correct myself on one major thing. Security Essentials
takes over Windows Defender's functionality and turns it off. So, in short,
all you need is one software; Security essentials.
And yes, get rid of Super Anti Spyware too, if you like. Now, al although
you can in fact still use Windows Defender and Security Essentials together,
Security Essentials protects both against against spyware and viruses too.
This fact is made clear when you go through your scanning schedule tab. It
checks for and uses both anti virus and anti spyware definitions.

HTH.

Ray,

Okay. So if I install this baby, you're saying I should uninstall both
Avast! antivirus and Super Anti Spyware, but leave Windows Defender alone.
Then install this new thing.

Am I understanding you correctly?you didn't say anything about what to do
with Super Anti-Spyware.

Thanks.

Wait!!!! Not so fast Joel. You're making much too much work for yourself
my friend. You need only remove your current anti virus program. By all
means, keep Windows Defender. What is way cool about the UI for both
Windows Defender and Security Essentials is the fact that everything is in
tab order. Everything reads fine without having to change the way screen
readers focus on the application and it's literally right at your finger
tips the entire time. Don't let the surface simplicity of the UI deceive
you in to believing that it's not a thorough or flexible program. Take a
look at the various tabs in Security Essentials, for example, and you'll
quickly come to appreciate the tremendous flexibility that's really under
the hood; for those like me who care to delve in to such advanced
flexibility. But not to worry. IF you don't want to get in to all that,
you don't have to. Why? Because the basic stuff is absolutely right where
you need it fastest.
 HTH.

PS. The installation took less than 30 seconds; literally.

Sincerely,
The Constantly BAREFOOTED Ray

Ray and you other guys who are trying out this MS antivirus and antispyware
program:

I'm currently using, let's see, Avast! free edition for antivirus and Super
Anti Spyware for spyware. I also have Windows Defender turned on, although I
forget how I did that. Apparently, none of this combination involves any
conflicts.

But what about if you download and install this new thing? Can you do that
and not bother removing the others I mention, including Windows Defender? Or
ought I to uninstall all of them if I'm going to run this new MS deal? And
if I do that, will the new program be adequate to quell my conscience about
using it, and only it?

Thanks. I'm encouraged by Ray's comments, below, as I'm not that technically
astute nor especially patient and I'm not fascinated to spend hours learning
to understand and use software. I mean, obviously I can learn what I have
to, or else I'd be a real Jaws dummy and so forth, which I'm not.but as I
say, spending hours and hours on a tech learning curve just ain't my idea of
how to spend whatever time I've got left on this planet, y'all.

Got it. Works great so far. Am still testing to see how much faster my
machine is now, but, I just love the UI!

Thanks.
