[gui-talk] How to set up a new laptop with Jaws?

I'm pretty sure I'll buy a laptop Saturday, and it'll probably run under
Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. So far, so good.

I've got a sighted friend who's an I T professional taking me shopping and
helping me find the right machine with the most agreeable keyboard.

But I don't know what to do with it once I get it home. Now, I think my
friend will set me up with a wireless network gizmo of some sort so that,
within my apartment, I can use my same ISP for Web and email, as long as my
desktop is turned on.

and I'm sure he'll help me copy appropriate data files from my desktop to my
laptop. I expect I should download my IE 8 (he'll copy my Favorites over,
I'm sure) and an email client, and I'll probably bite the ribbon bullet and
get word 2007 on the laptop and just teach myself how to use it. I
understand it can be done. I'm still using Word 2000 on my old desktop, for
eccentric reasons.

Okay, so blah blah blah if that was tedious or confusing, sorry. But here's
my question: Although my SMA is good for Jaws 11, I haven't downloaded and
installed it yet, and am still using Jaws 10x. That itself is neither here
nor there. But I'll definitely want to download and install Jaws 11 onto the
new laptop, then probably onto the desktop as well, and then learn the new
version as we all have to do.

But how am I to do this? Without jaws on the laptop, it's useless to me.
Must I ask my friend to go to FS/Jaws Central and download and install Jaws
11 latest update for me, so that I can begin to do anything at all on the
new computer? And let's say we did that; well, assuming I have several ILM
keys to start with, will FS prevent me from downloading and installing Jaws
11 on my desktop, as well?

Thanks to anyone who's patient enough to read through this post carefully
and respond helpfully. I'm all ears.
Joel
