Subject line says everything that needs to be said so this once again  
reinforces Adium as being the most versatile chat client on the planet  
and I sincerely hope the developers of the software may turn their  
attention to developing a version for Windows.  Think of a chat  
protocol and its more than likely that Adium will be able to connect  
you to another user of that protocol, even the old ICQ is supported  
and I've not heard of anyone using that protocol for quite some time.

Accessibility is no problem at all particularly when you can configure  
Adium to make sounds when various events occur or to speak them, its  
your choice, even have Adium speak the text of a chat.

The latest update now supports Twitter and I installed it here  
yesterday, the results were satisfactory but I prefer Twitterrific for  
my Twitter stuff but again its all down to choice.
