THE PROMPT CREATOR

Have you ever come across a situation where you're tabbing through a
program or web site and there's a whole bunch of controls Jaws won't
read properly? It just says "button" or "edit" but doesn't tell you what
that edit or button is for. There is a way to fix this and it does not
involve any scripting. Jaws has an option called the Prompt Creator for
just this situation.

1.	Launch the application you're having problems with and move to
the control you want to label.
2.	Press Control +Jaws key +Tab to open the Prompt Creator.
Remember the Jaws key is usually the Insert if you're using a full sized
keyboard or the Caps Lock if you have the laptop layout enabled.
3.	The prompt creator is a simple Wizard which will allow you to
create 3 different prompts for a control. The first will tell Jaws what
to read when you tab to the control. Enter the text you want jaws to
read and tab to "Next". Press space bar.
4.	The next section will ask you to enter the text that will appear
on a Braille display. If you don't have a Braille display and you're not
going to share these prompts then you can leave this blank. Tab to
"next" and press space bar.
5.	The third and final prompt is for tutor information. When you
first installed Jaws you may remember instructions such as "use up and
down arrow keys to move" etc being voiced when you hit certain controls
in Windows. This is tutor information. If you don't need this then you
can leave it blank.
6.	Tab to "Finish" and press space bar.

Your prompt is now created. Every time you tab to or land on this
control some other way you will now know what it's for.

If ever you need to delete a prompt there are 3 easy steps to do this

1.	Navigate to the control you created the prompt for.
2.	Press Jaws key +F2. Using your arrow keys select "Frame Viewer"
and press enter.
3.	Press tab until you hear the name of the prompt you wish to
delete. Press the Delete key. Answer Yes to the delete prompt.
4.	Press the escape key and answer Yes when asked if you wish to
save changes.
