All,
WE4Java 0.9.10 beta is now available at the link below:
http://rapidshare.com/files/194122163/WE4Java_0.9.10_setup.exe
This release contains several updates including menu bar support, recognition of password fields, sound feedback in the form of sound profiles, and improved mouse tracking ability. A new demo program, swingset2 has also been added. This program is the demo for all types of swing controls and is the one I have used heavily during development. The change log for this release is given below:
Beta Release 0.9.10 - Thursday, 2/5/2009
This release contains the following updates:
* Support for recognizing password edit fields.
* Support for reading menu bar selections and pull down menus.
When a menu bar menu is opened, the name of the menu will be announced
along with the number of items in the menu. If any menu items are disabled,
a count of these will be read as well. If a menu option is checked, this will be
announced. If a submenu or dialog exists, this will also be read.
* Sound feedback returns in the form of sound profiles. A sound profile
is really just a section in the WE4Java.ini file. Thus, new profiles or
modification of existing profiles can be controlled through the
ini file. To turn off sound profiles, set the value SoundProfile=
to None in the [Settings] section at the top of the WE4Java.ini file.
* Mouse tracking has been enhanced. The mouse-to-top-left hotkey works and the
mouse-to-focused-item hotkey. Also, the mouse up, down, left and right
movement keys function to move the mouse. Mouse read commands, such as
mouse-read-line or mouse-read-word do not function as yet.
* Sound feedback is provided during mouse movement. If the mouse moves into
a menu bar or tool bar, a solid click is sounded and the words menu bar or tool bar
are announced. If the mouse is manually moved into a different java window,
a different click sound is played. If the mouse moves from one java panel to
another within the same window, a light click is played. If the mouse
movement keys are used and the mouse is attempted to move beyond the current window,
a cowbell like sound is played.
* A bug was fixed which prevented window-Eyes from responding to hotkey
events if a java application was active but was not the currently
active window.
* A new demo program, SwingSet2, was added to the WE4Java program group.
This is the program demoing all types of swing controls using
16 different screens. This has been a major test program used during
WE4Java development.
NOTE: To try out the menu bar support, you can start the Swingset2 demo and then press alt+f to go to the file menu. Press right arrow to move to the next menu. If you are in the notepad program, they did not provide a shortcut to the menu bar choices; so, you will need to press the mouse-to-top-left hotkey to get to the menu bar.
Happy testing.
