For those looking for such an application try Protect Mac Anti Virus
at http://protectmac.com
Though its not an essential tool for a Mac - as Mac computers don't -
as a rule get infected by viruses - you can at least stop the "spread"
of viruses say from your Mac to a Windows machine.
An article in today's Age Green Guide prompted me to investigate the
world of anti virus software for the Mac and I've probably only
scratched a tiny part of the surface. Some of the "Big Players" in
the security game are there including Symantec and Mcafee are there
but I'm not a fan. Firstly, Norton Anti Virus For Mac doesn't have a
trial programme and in any case I think the price is just far too
unreasonable at $79.00. I've been reading reports from other users of
the Norton product on the Mac on other lists and they're having
accessibility issues with the thing. Mcafee is out of the race as far
as I'm concerned because you have to fill in a form giving your
chronological history along with 500 good reasons as to why you dare
ask for the free 30 day trial in the first place so that's out.
I discovered Protect Mac Anti Virus through the excellent "OS10
Software" tool which is available from the "Apple" menu in any running
application, a simple search gave me a whole heap of Anti Virus
options to choose from.
Now for those who wish to read the article which I refer to earlier
on? You can find it up on "My Sendspace" at http://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/0c7vqn
