Dave,

thanks. I've already come to understand what Fusion, as opposed to Boot Camp 
or whatever, is, but no one here has mentioned that it can be problematic. 
if I were to explore the Mac option, and expect to use Windows with Fusion 
or Boot Camp as training wheels so I wouldn't be paralyzed until I got the 
hang of operating the Mac OS, that wouldn't be cool. I live alone, and even 
though a very close friend is an IT pro who helps me with a lot, he's a 
Windows person like nearly everyone, and besides,neither he nor  anyone else 
I could call on lives here or next door. this may be not too good an idea. 
but I'm at an early stage, learning what my options might be.

Thanks for going into as much detail as you have. I'll be taking everything 
I learn under consideration. One question. How about using that Boot Camp 
option,instead? So you could boot up in Mac OS, spend some time teaching 
yourself the OS and how to use the voice output stuff, then call a halt to 
your learning session and reboot in Windows and go on that way, using jaws, 
for the rest of your working day. Jeez, I get tired just thinking of doing 
that.

Well, who knows. it's not yet time for a decision.

There is software you can install on the Mac called Fusion.  It
creates one or more virtual machines, basically computers created
with software.  You can install Windows on one of the virtual
machines, run JAWS, Word etc., all within the virtual machine.  It
can be tricky to get up and working though, so unless you have
someone to help you, it might not be a good idea.

You also described the Mac as near self voicing.  Maybe, maybe
not.  As you do things you are going to want to reread things,
explore etc., so nothing is really self voicing.  My impression, from
doing a little, talking to others, and reading is that in some
instances, voice-over has a lot and/or some complicated key sequences.
