Doug is absolutely correct.

In the first place, the NFB owned/owns the boat which this guy was going to
use.  The first trial sailing of the boat did show some problems; but, this
was not  to be the main purpose for the voiage.  It was an active hurricane
season; and, the NFB, (again I say, the owners of the boat) determined that
it was to dangerous to sale her where captain Aaron wanted her to sale; so,
what happened to that situation was this.  He tried to sue the NFB over  the
decision to not sale.  What he overlooked was this.  We own/owned that
vessel.  Therefore, it was our decision, not his.  It was our money that
paid for it.  Those are the facts of that case.

I frankly wonder if Dr. Jernigan himself would have called that a
"gimic," either before or after the NFB involvement began.
Personally, I never thought of it as a "gimic."  To me, it was a
unique endeavor that could inspire both blind and sighted to look at
possibilities.  As I understand things, the "failure" was not really
due to a failure of the concept, but more a breakdown of personal
relationships.  I'm sure there's a lot I don't know, but that's how it
went down in my mind (no pun intended there btw).
