[gui-talk] MSI Wind and Aspire One

Hello Raul,

Pressing FN along with the F10 key toggles the battery saving mode. When in
this mode, the CPU slows to 800 MHz, which is half its top 1.6 GHz speed. I
guess the numeric keypad issue doesn't bother me enough to represent a deal
breaker. :-)

Subject: [gui-talk] MSI Wind and Aspire One

I like the Aspire One keyboard a little better. While the MSI wind has a
larger keyboard and is easier with many of it's keys, I don't care for
the size of the comma, period, and slash keys in the bottom right. They
are a bit narrow for me, and so as I type, I tend to press the slash key
rather than the period key. Even though the Aspire One keys are a bit
smaller than the MSI, I've never had an issue pressing the period when I
need to. Small things, but all in all, aside from the embedded numberpad
issues the MSI Wind has, it's keyboard is still very nice. What I
especially like is the size of the shift and enter keys. I also like
it's management of the battery. You can press fn-key together with f8 I
believe, or f9 maybe, and adjust how much battery is used. When it's in
lower-mode, the screen dims and the over-clocking is not used. All in
all, it's a great buy. What I didn't like about the MSI numlock keyboard
is if you turn on numlock, the j k l u i o act as 1 2 3 4 5 6 as they
should, but you don't need to press the fn-key. This is not standard to
other laptops and makes it quite weird if you are typing a lot of
numbers and letters at the same time because you can't just type a j and
get the j, you will get a 1. On most other laptops, when you have the
numlock on, and you type a j, you still get a j, but if you hold fn-key,
and j, then you will get the 1. I think the MSI should follow this
standard, but it does not. That is unfortunate because for me, it's a
deal breaker. All other things about it are great.
