[gui-talk] Accessible FAX program

By inaccessible I meant you might not be able to read it back just because
it's not strictly print as in handwriting so it may not read but it would be
intelligible to a sightling.

Hello Albert,

I've used these techniques to complete official processes that used to
previously require sighted assistance. With technology as it is now,
including FAX and scanned signatures, there's *NO* excuse for anything to be

completely inaccessible.

I don't see why you couldn't send a signature. You'd scan the signed
document in to your computer, paste it in to a message or attach it and let
the web fax do the rest. That sounds like the real thing to me. IMO.

Well how can that enable you to send a printed sheet of paper, including
something like a signature, meaning scanning with OCR won't give you what
you need to send. This doesn't sound as if it actually provides real fax
service. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something. Maybe you guys mean this is a

way to send a text document so that it comes out of someone's fax machine?
That isn't what I'd want fax capability for. I would want it for doing the
real thing.

Hello Albert,

No. It is all done online using your e-mail application, so no FAX modem is
required.

Does this program require a fax modem? I wondered because it's web based.
thanks

Hello Brian,

I use and am very satisfied with a web-based FAX service called Faxaway. It
is available at the following link: http://www.faxaway.com

Do any of you have recommendations on a good computer FAX send and receive
program which will work well with JAWS for Windows? We have an older version
of HotFAX MessageCenter which I may be able to upgrade to the latest version
6.0. The built in FAX program in Windows XP seems to have issues receiving
faxes reliably for some reason, and I wanted a program with a few more
options than the basic Windows FAX capabilities.

Thanks in advance.
