The University of Louisville sent this recently. I just saw it a minute ago. I don't know if anyone has heard of this or not, but I thought since it came from my college that I'd forward it on.

Subject: Action Required: Microsoft Security Advisory

Microsoft Corporation released Security Advisory 961051 regarding a security issue with Internet Explorer 7 (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/advisory/961051.mspx). The security issue could allow a computer hacker to gain access to your computer. To help protect against this security issue, Information Technology recommends taking the following steps:

1.Make sure you are running the most up-to-date virus protection software. If you are not running virus protection software you can download Symantec Endpoint free of charge from iTech Xpress (http://louisville.edu/it/itechxpress).

2.Make sure your operating system has been updated and contains the most recent patches. If you are running a Microsoft operating system you can download patches and updates from http://www.microsoft.com.

3.Minimize your use of Internet Explorer until Microsoft issues a patch to fix this vulnerability. You can download an alternate web browser such as Mozilla Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/), Apple Safari (http://www.apple.com/safari/download/) or Google Chrome (http://google.com/chrome). Note: Not all University of Louisville web applications are compatible with the alternate browsers listed.

Information Technology will notify you when Microsoft issues a patch to fix this security issue. If you need any assistance with the above steps, please contact the IT HelpDesk at 852-7997 or helpdesk at louisville.edu.
