[gui-talk] the plague of Google.

yes, Albert, if the other windows are independent of the one you're trying
to close. Which means they can't be in a series you've followed, link by
link, to get to what you're closing. That will close that whole "instance"
of the browser. But if they're other "tabbed" pages, doing this will just
close that one site. And if the other open pages are from relaunching the
browser to get to them, so that it's like having two or more copies of the
browser running at once, the other Web pages won't be affected, either.
This stuff just needs some reading of instructions for using whichever
browser is involved. That would demystify nearly ever issue that's been
brought here on this thread of supposed Google problems, which weren't
google problems in the first place. To offer what I hope will be an amusing
but telling comparison, this is like imagining that because you got lost on
a one-way street in Houston it's the fault of New orleans, where you started
out on the westbound Interstate. That's not exactly precise but maybe it
helps?

Often control W works in jaws. It will close that window leaving the others
open.

Well, I might as well weigh in on this one, too, for, I have been
having similar problems.

I find that I can't always back out even with alt/leftarrow. I've
never been able to get any results with back space. I'm running W.E.
6.1. Sometime the alt/left arrow works, then, again, it won't. Often
the deeper I go following links the worse it gets.

However, I have found that I can sometimes hit alt/f4 and keep moving
back. Even, then, that will sometimes take me completely out of the web
site.

"My fellow Americans. Let me make one thing perfectly clear: . . . I
haven't the foggiest idea what the solution is. I just live with it.

In January, I will have all my children and grandchildren together,
up in Washington State, for Nativity. I have two sons quite
knowledgable about computers(one works with a computer trouble
shooting firm), so, I plan to take this beast and have them perform a
frontal lobotomy on it, as, I am having other troubles I can't account for.
