[gui-talk] Auto Forms Mode as an "issue" (was Re: google has changed and searches are now difficult)

Just one comment on the Auto Forms mode deal. I'll admit to being something
of a sissy in this case. I tried it for a couple of days, even getting
optimistic and friendly enough toward it to go into the appropriate menu in
Configuration Manager and change the default sounds, which felt to me
something between merely annoying and actually jarring, to a couple of
milder in and out sounds. But I just couldn't deal with what felt to me like
its confusing interference. So I simply turned it off. I keep up my SMA and
install new versions mainly because I know that this way I'll have a good
chance to not find myself confounded and my access to various things like
certain Web pages permanently messed up because some major Web site design
team made an ordinary coding change that FS needed to hear about and work on
for an update build, and that sort of thing. Naturally, that also means my
word 2000 and OE 6 may not be very well supported soon; I can already see
signs of that in OE. They did respond to some hounding about misbehavior in
Jaws 9 with Word 2000, and eventually that started working okay again. Never
mind the details.

but this is one feature I personally thought was kind of cute but now don't
care to trouble myself with. If you listen to the FS podcast (unlike certain
folks, I can't easily say exactly which issue of the FSCast it was), you'll
hear Eric Damery admit good-naturedly that some or many longtime Jaws users
who are skillful with all the commands and strategies around Forms mode
situations may not be so pleased with Auto forms Mode, and if so may simply
turn it off. Which is what this camper did.

So, just in case this personal testimony is helpful to anybody who feels
similarly but isn't sure what's best to do, or should they soldier on to
master using Auto Forms Mode gracefully if it's much of an effort.

I also am not seeing a problem with google -- in fact I used it today and
was pleased how little I had to wade through to get to what I wanted.
However, Albert may be right -- if you installed jaws10, the auto forms mode
is a little hard to get used to. More sound effects and slightly fewer
keystrokes. I don't know if I like it or not, but google can fly off in
strange directions if you're not careful with autoforms.

I can't tell you what's wrong but the problem doesn't lie with Google. I
use it often and that doesn't happen to me. You may begin by checking your
search settings. Also, if you're running the latest version of jaws you may
have the new auto forms feature enabled and not set properly.

Hello everyone,
I have always enjoyed using Google and has always found the information
which I have searched for easy.

Google has changed and I find it very difficult to find the information
which I have been searching for.

Did Google make a big change or did some of my settinhgs cause this problem?

Sometime Google will only provide me with one choice and I cannot get out of
that site by pressing the back space key.

Can someone provide some info on my problem?

Thanks, Tom Blume
