Josh,
As I said previously, I have heard that it is about as accessible as version 2. Somethings worked all right and some
things did not. I have stuck with Audition 1.5 for now. I think there are JFW scripts for 1.5, but I use Window-Eyes and
have gotten by pretty well using the mouse keys when I need to. You can also define many keys within Audition itself
so I've done some of that. It would certainly be possible to do more with "SET" files than I have done, but sometimes I
find it more productive to just use an application rather than spend a lot of time to save a little since I don't use it that
often.
Adobe has always let one have multiple versions of Audition on a system. For example, I had versions 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0
on my system at the same time, so why don't you try the demo of 3.0 and let us know what you find. In 2.0, the time
window couldn't be read as it can with 1.5, so you could check to see if the same is true in 3.0. Some of the plug-in
effects don't speak in 2.0, either. When I say "don't speak," I don't mean that they don't talk automatically, rather the
text simply does not seem to be there when using a screen reader, even using the mouse keys or JFW cursor.
However, it isn't all text that doesn' appear, some is fine. That's why it is hard to give you a yes or no answer. Someone
who really wanted something that version 2 or 3 had might figure out how to live with the shortcomings. If you plan to
use Audition for multitrack recording using the Multitrack view, people tell me that Sonar is a better bet. My use of
Audition has pretty much been limited to stereo recording, mostly getting material off old tapes and records, applying a
little noise reduction, and then putting the results on CD, so I don't use the multitrack view much.
If you get a more positive response from someone on one of the other lists you have written to, I would like to hear about
it.
Best regards,
Steve Jacobson
