That sounds like something they wanted to say to get you to spend some more money. Pam.

hello,
obviously, i am in unchartered waters. i recently had to take in my computer TO BEST BUY FOR REPAIR. I WAS told that some hardware inside of the computer may be causing my problem. and the damage to the hardware in the computer may have been caused by my serve protector going bad. i explained that i had the protector for about 5 or 6 years, and i was then advised that a replacement every two years was adviseable. so thus my question.

What kinds of issues (problems?) might a person have with the life span of a
surge protector? it's my understanding that the only thing that will disable
surge protection on a power strip would be if it suffered a jolt of
electrical surge that blew out its circuit breaker, so that it became just a
regular old power strip after that. When that happens, you're supposed to
replace it. But I never heard of a surge protector wearing out, so to put
it. How would it wear out? Can you explain that electrically?

thanks.
