I don't have an item like that on my start menu. I don't even have an All
Programs list. It's just Programs. However, I do have an update function
like that available from one of the menus in Internet Explorer. Is this the
very same thing?

I just went to the Microsoft Update option in my all programs list in my
start menu and followed the prompts from there. I don't know if it makes a
difference, but I chose the custom button. I've heard that it will download
even if you chose express. I'd imagine it will be in the auto update process
soon, but I don't know when.

This is good to know. If I wish to do the same, where is it that I go,
please? Also, if I would prefer to allow it to download and install without
my intervention when Microsoft plans to schedule it to be done that way, how

I just went to the update site and it was the only thing that it would let
me download. I installed it with no problems, so far.

I saw this announced on Blind Tech. Now, does this mean that if I want it, I
must go to a Microsoft URL , find it and deliberately download it? If so,
what's the URL?

Or does it mean that it will now be automatically installed during one of my
auto update sessions without my needing to do anything or even knowing it's
being done? Or...?

Thanks. Please note that I have auto update set to install critical updates
only, which I believe is done without my knowing it when it happens or being
asked for my permission. I believe that's what's been happening since I set
it up this way in Control Panel, though I don't know how to check anything
but that setting in order to confirm this.
