[gui-talk] Is the jig suddenly up for AVG Free Edition 7.5?

There's been some discussion about what would make a good replacement for
AVG Free Edition Version 7.5 so long as the new version 8 is not yet screen
reader accessible lately. Avast! sounded pretty good to me, but I was hoping
I wouldn't have to switch and spend time learning to set it up and run it.
Well, the time may have come. This morning, AVG plunked some sort of
dialogue on my screen. Jaws wouldn't read the contents of the dialogue
except to say, when I pressed Insert B, that Insert B would reveal that I
was to press Enter twice to close it. I played with the Jaws cursor to no
avail. Blank, blank, blank, blank.
So I hit Enter twice, even though Insert E wouldn't identify the active
control, and a Web page opened urging me to either upgrade to the paid
Version 8 Security Suite or at least install the new free version 8
antivirus program.
yet only a few minutes before this happened, my AVG 7.5 faithfully performed
its usual morning update on itself, same as ever. There was no mention on
the Web page when 7.5 would actually expire, and if there was such a notice
in that pop-up dialogue, Jaws couldn't find it or anything else.
Anybody know? Is this the end for AVG Free Edition Version 7.5? I was hoping
the AVG people (I see they no longer go by the Grisoft name) would fix up
the interface of Version 8 so it was Jaws accessible before 7.5 expired.
Sigh.
