When you paste use paste special.
Turn off virtual cursor mode.
Highlight text to copy with ctrl-a then ctrl-c.
or as folks suggested, save the file and open in Word.

Note:
JAWS will include things like list table etc with virtual cursor mode
on, so that can be annoying.

You might not use JAWS so may ignore that if so.
