Yeah well I have seen drives around where (once the software is installed)
all the user need do is press the "backup" button on the drive and the
system automatically takes care of the rest.
Pity that something like Apple's Time Machine doesn't exist for the Pc, I've
been playing with this for 3 days now and its truly the "Master" of backup
software so the sooner Microsoft copy the idea then the better. Gordon Smith
on the mac-access mailing list has written a comprehensive review of it if
anyone's interested so I'll summarise the key points here.
To activate Time Machine, just plug in an external drive, this can either be
another Mac computer or external hard drive, You can backup more than one
computer onto the same drive, its all automatic, all the user need do is
answer the prompt on-screen, "do you wish to use this drive with time
machine".
No need to search for files if you don't want to, you can browse by day and
see the exact file structure or hard drive contents on a given day at a
given time as if you'd gone back to that point using (dare I say it) a "Time
Machine".

I simply make copies of the files instead of using any backup program. The
drive is plug and play so aren't required to use their software. Actual
copies are better than backups because they are always readable by any
computer.

I have a, My Book external drive produced by Western Digital. I'd heard
their back up software was accessible so I purchased it. However, when I
open the back up program on my desk top, I can read nothing with jaws but
sightlings can see the options. Has anyone been successful at configuring
this thing? thanks
