[gui-talk] A Pacmate or a Braillenote?

With the appropriate cards, such as a wireless card or Bluetooth card, yes
they can. MSN Messenger comes on the Pac Mate, and I expect that Windows
Live Messenger will be on the new Omni. As for the Braille display, it can
be disconnected from the Pac Mate and used as a stand alone display through
its USB port. Or, leave it hooked to the PM and use the PM Desktop
application which lets you control your computer from the Pac Mate. With the
updated Pac Mate there will be an updated GPS program, the Street Talk
bundle with Destinator. Among the many enhancements is a much easier install
process and pedestrian directions. I'm only repeating what I've heard here
but it sounds like Street Talk 2.0 will be substantially better than the
current version. Finally, don't forget about the PM def-blind solutions
available. Read more about the deaf-blind software packages here:

Good luck in whatever you decide,
Wayne
