I realize I can use the software provided by Microsoft as a part of my
operating system but if I can, I'd rather use the program that came with the
drive.

I simply make copies of the files instead of using any backup program. The
drive is plug and play so aren't required to use their software. Actual
copies are better than backups because they are always readable by any
computer.

Subject: [gui-talk] configuring a, My Book external drive:
I have a, My Book external drive produced by Western Digital. I'd heard
their back up software was accessible so I purchased it. However, when I
open the back up program on my desk top, I can read nothing with jaws but
sightlings can see the options. Has anyone been successful at configuring
this thing? thanks _______________________________________________
