[gui-talk] Accessibility of Windows Mail?

Albert,

Are you saying that for the moment, IE 7 is still bundled with OE in an
updated version of the familiar email client? And that at some future point,
this will change and they'll start bundling the new program with it,
instead, so that if you didn't upgrade the browser before that, you won't be
able to hang onto your legacy OE email client?

This is just when I wish that our very own Microsoft insider would step in
and clarify a few things... :-)

Since there's a shortage of facts, it would seems prudent to install I.E. 7
while we can because it will have bundled with it, O.E. If we wait we may
have to use an inaccessible program. However, I can say that it works well
with Vista right now.

I thought we understood it the same way. Look, we both know we don't have
very many facts to go on in this whole crazy thing. Like I said to Frank
last night. Let's have some hard facts to go on. IF he, or for that
matter, anybody else has better facts than we seem to have right now, let's
have them. So far, just about all we've got is the experiences of myself
and a few others who have been playing with the beta for Windows Live mail
and a lot of speculation about this and that. It would seem that those who
truly know the fats aren't talking or posting anything on the web so far as
I can see. I can tell you this. IF the final release of Windows Mail comes
out behaving like the beta for Windows Live Mail, there's going to be a lot
of blind people complaining very loudly. IF Microsoft won't do anything
about it, I reckon it's up to Freedomscientific and the other screen reader
makers to come out with patches for the things I talked about earlier. So,
I say again. IF anybody out there has better facts than we seem to have
just at the moment, come forth with them; and, please, site your sources so
we all can take a look.

Thanks.

Sincerely yours,
The Constantly Barefooted,
Ray

What do you mean by "email support?" I thought that was the topic. That
Outlook Express is threatened to no longer be "supproted," and I was asking
what you meant by "support." Thanks very much.

Right off, I'd guess that your guess is correct; but, on top of that, this
would apply equally to e-mail support as well.

hello Ray,
What do you mean by saying "support for OE will die?" Do you mean if I ever
felt the need to write or call Microsoft tech support to help me with some
OE problem, I wouldn't get any answer? that's the first thing I think of as
"support." Now, you may mean something else. Like OE will suddenly stop
working, even if you haven't upgraded to IE 7? Thanks very much. Sometimes I
just don't get the expressions people use, and I really want to understand
this, because I'm using OE, even though I don't ever contact anyone for
support with it.

Thanks very much.

Yes, what you've heard is true. Wen the final release version of Windows
Mail actually comes out via the regular Microsoft update feature, support
for Outlook Express will die. I forget now who; but, somebody else on this
list was saying this should happen perhaps this or next week.

Hello,
Am I missing something here? I try to keep up on things as much as possible
but have not heard anything about this. Is OE going away? Can someone
send a link so I can read more about this please. Thanks,
