Yes, I am able to install programs. So guess that's not the problem.

Can you install and uninstall programs on your computer and otherwise
manipulate files? IF so, you are already logged on as the system
administrator; or so I would guess. Can't explain why you're having the
port issue though.

Hi all,
I'm wondering if I need to log on as an administrator in order to change
ports on my computer. I found the nokia connection manager, and when I click
on advanced, I find the box that allows me to assign the port number. But
even though I highlight the port number, no matter which one, and click
okay, it is not there when I go back in. so I'm thinking that I have to log
on as an administrator. I'm the only person that uses this computer.
