And you have come up with yet a third way of doing what I wanted. Too bad I
have already used the convert function and blown the table away. I'd like
to try that backspace trick. Thanks.

Laura,
Try putting your cursor on the first letter of the document where
the table starts and then pressing the backspace key one time,
maybe two, to, hopefully, delete the table function code that
precedes the text. You should be able to tell if it worked if
JAWS no longer says "beginning of table..." If that doesn't work
save the document as a text file so it contains only text and no
formatting. You will need to manually put the text back together
as a single column the way you want it and then copy the edited
text into a new Word document and invoke to column function. Good
