[gui-talk] columns in a word document

Hi Laura,

To create a Word document with columns:

Press Alt simultaneously with the letter O (format) and then
press C (for columns).

If the paper upon which you will be printing is your normal size,
simply use the columns dialog box to choose two columns. Decide
if you want a line dividing the columns and other settings you
desire. It's pretty clear.

If the paper size is different from your default size, be sure
that the evenly spaced choice is checked; it is probably already
the default.

The "Table" menu is not needed for your task. Good luck; I'm sure
you'll be fine.

Subject: [gui-talk] columns in a word document

Hi all -- I have a question -- I have been asked to write up a
monthly flyer
of quotes and announcements for the church I go to and in order
to fit
everything on one page I need to format it in 2 columns.
Well I went to the table menu and created a 2 column table and am
having
trouble getting the column widths corrects -- and II am also not
sure if
tables is the way to do what I want.

I want the text to fill in column 1 on page 1 and then before
going to page
2, jump up and fill in column 2.

Since it is such a short document, I think I can handle manually
going to
column 2 when I get to the bottom of the page, but now I have the
entire
text of the document done but column 2 is about 1/3 the width of
column 1
and I don't know how to fix it.

Does anyone have an idea what to do to get the effect I need?
Thanks in advance for any useful info.
I am using Word 2003 and have pored through the menus and options
and can't
find anything that could fix the problem -- but then there's a
lot I don't
understand about this program.

Anyway, TIA
--le
