[gui-talk] Saving files to R/W CD

Actually, Joel, you do copy the files to the drive first. Then you go to
the drive and you have the option to burn/write the files. You have to do
them as batches and cannot simply add files to a disk that already has
files. But one can go through several folders and copy them to the cd drive
and when they have all they want there, they go to the drive and write the
files using the windows wizard that pops up.

Hi guys,
this may be too elementary a comment, and I con fess that, although I do
burn and copy music CDs, I've never used a CD for writing or copying files
to in an ordinary sense. My remark is, I don't believe you can simply copy
files to that drive, as if you were copying files to a floppy drive or a
flash drive, like the thumb drive I use for backups or when I plug my
Creative MuVo or Sandisk Sansa into the USB port and copy music .mp3s
directly onto them. What I mean is, isn't it likely that what's needed here
is to use a program, such as a free one supplied with Windows, or a
commercial one, to do this? In other words, to *burn* those files to the CD,
rather than simply copying them? Isn't this the "issue," so to speak?

Hi Colleen.
I/we probably need more detail to help you with this problem.
Is this a new computer and/or a new cdrw or dvd rw drive.
What type of drive is it?
What version of windows on the pc?
What software are you using on the pc in conjunction with the cdrw or
dvdrw drive to burn files.
Are you getting any other errors when you try to do things which may
point me to conclude that's a problem with the "user account type" that
you are using to login to the pc, I.E., power user account rather than
an account that's a member of the administrators group.
Or, if it's not user account related in nature it could be any number of
possibilities such as.
Feel free to reply on list or to me directly, or if you have skype or
something similar we could possibly voice chat to get to the bottom of
the problem.
Good luck and hth - Ed.

Hello,
I use Windows XP and I'm unable to save a file to my R/W CD (d drive).
When I try to save a file a dialog box comes up and says, "You do not
have access to this folder (D:). See your administrator for access to
this folder." Does anyone know how I can remedy this problem?

Thanks in advance!
Colleen
