[gui-talk] Olympus recorders

This brings to mind a time when many of us were taken by the announcement of
a dictionary put out by the Franklin company. This was just before the
Language master when we had no portable dictionaries. It was listed in the
old Aids and Appliances catalogue. It was described as accessible. They
said it announced the words. What we didn't know was that it only announced
what you were inputting and it didn't read the definitions. If I had been
able to afford it, I'd have been in the same boat as two of my friends who
did buy the thing. They got a refund but I've been appropriately guarded in
my approach to new technology every since.

| YOu know,
|
| When I first heard about these new recorders they really sounded
| great and maybe a perfect replacement for the Book Courier. But,
| at the same time I had the feeling that it was too good to be true,
| and apparently that's the way it is.
|
| Maybe it's okay for someone who just wants a digital recorder, but
| if you're serious about such things as using it for a player as
| well, it just isn't worth it in it's current state.
|
| It also goes to show that accessability is in the eyes of the
| accesser.
