I guess the only thing you could do is to find out the name of the
Doubletalk driver and copy it from your frines computer, put the file onto
your computer and see what happens. I'm using one of these synths however
I'm using Window-Eyes which probably usues a completely different driver.

Hi,

I've already done all this and it makes no difference.

I've also gone into System under the control panel and ran trouble shoot for

the port, and it appears to be working. But, it also said that I may need
new drivers. I tried rolling the driver back, but there is no previous
driver. I saw something about deleting the driver, but didn't try that,
because I don't know if a new driver will automatically install, or where
I'd get it.

Ik, this is just a shot in the dark as I also have one of these things but
it sounds to me as though you may need to do some tweaking of your com1
properties, in particular try the following.
Go into your Comptuers hardware settings by select the "my computer" icon on
the desktop, pressing alt-enter and navigating to the hardware tab.
Hext press the tab key to get to the "device manager" and press the space.
Press tab once to get to the "devices" tree view and arrow down this to
Com-LPT ports I think it, press the right arrow key to expand this branch of
the tree.
Select com1 and select properties from the Action menu I think it is. Now
I'm not sure exactly where to go from here because its been a while since
I've done this but you'll now need to select advanced com port properties,
the UseFFIO check box will be one of the first options there, unselct this.
Press OK a few times to get out of all of this stuff.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [gui-talk] Double Talk problem

I have a Double Talk connected to my com 1 port. I've used it before, but
not for awhile.

A few weeks ago, I tried to turn it on and found the battery was dead, so I
replaced it. But, now, every time I turn it on, I get "Double Talk Ready"
and then a string of letters and characters, along with dashes. I can't
make JAWS 7.1 or 9 switch to Double Talk, even though it's checked in both
versions.

I took the Double Talk to my neighbor's house (he also uses JAWS), and
connected and selected it as one of the synthesizer languages. It works
perfectly, there.

I don't know what the characters and dashes are all about, but I can't get
it to work on my computer. As I said, It did before, but doesn't, now. The

port appears to be configured correctly. If anyone has suggestions, I'd
appreciate knowing what I might try.

Thanks.

Cindy
