The issue was taken up again on 60 Minutes last night. At present,
there are at least 3 flavors of this machine. They featured the one that
was developed by the MIT professor, but since then, there have been
units developed by Intel, and another manufacturer. The one developed by
Negraponte runs under Linux. The Intel unit runs under some flavor of
Windows.

A gentleman on the Blindtech list said he installed XP on His and it
works great with his screen reader. They are coming out with an XP model
soon.
They do have one with an 8 Gig drive. You would just need an external
drive if you need a lot of space. Our local TV consumer reporter Clark
Howard, said he had one and loved it. He mainly uses it for traveling.
Of course it would not be for every one but I would love to have one.

Yeah, well if you do that then you're not going to be left with all that
much space, I think Windows XP takes up near to a gig of disk space,
remember that this machine has a 4 gig "RAM" drive only.
Secondly the big issue would be whether drivers to run such things as
the sound device are available for this unit to work with XP, I suspect
not as this machine is specifically marketed and sold with LINUX drivers
and software.
