Hi,
Check out Scan and Say at http://www.barcode-solutions.com/scanandsay.html.
It's the cheapest bar code solution out right now. The only bad thing I
don't like about it is that it hooks up to your computer using a USB port or
a PS2 port.
Scan and SayT includes:
Talking software for Windows with 5 different voice settings
Descriptions for approximately 500,000 grocery and retail items - easily add
new
items yourself!
Supports UPC and EAN barcode standards.
500 pre-printed self-adhesive barcodes to use on items without barcodes
Multi-line scanner
Audio user manual (PDF version also included)
NO SCREEN READER SOFTWARE REQUIRED!!!
$395 PLUS $20 SHIPPING. Note: Specify USB (recommended), RS-232 or keyboard
wedge connection when ordering.

Subject: [gui-talk] One more try: hand held scanners
Can anyone give me links to information about hand held scanners that blind
people use to label items and identify them? As I've said a couple of time,
I seem to remember these devices being discussed or at least referred to her
on this list, and as I said, I want to look into them now as part of a plan
to make my music CD collection accessible again.
Anybody remember what these devices are, who sells them, and where to find
information, reviews or anything about them? And if no one still feels like
piping up, would someone please tell me the name and subscription address of
a mailing list where I might ask this sort of question and be responded to?
I remember there's a list called Blind Tech, for instance. Would that work?
How do you subscribe?
thanks.
