I'm at the New York Times online right now, and I realize it might help if I
were more precise about when this thing happens. It isn't when I click on
the first page of an article (here, or in the Los Angeles Times, and other
places, too). It's when I click on the Print or Printer friendly link that
this thing come up that I have to close in order to reveal the page I've
loaded.
BTW, it isn't that I'm printing out news articles on my HP for others to
read offline. I always use the Printer Friendly version of a page to get a
consolidated story instead of it being split into parts, and without all the
global navigation links, sidebars and inline advertising frames that
interrupt the first version of the article. A nice trick I discovered long
ago. Handy for copying and pasting an article into an email, too, if you
prefer to share an article that way rather than send someone a link to the
article.
