I use AVG Free Edition, with XP Home and IE 6, and nothing like that happens 
when I launch the browser.  I wonder what's happening on your system?

I’m running a.v.g. everytime I open internet explorer 6, I hear a sound like
a gunshot. I just started using this program. What is this sound all about?
Can or should it be disabled?
