[gui-talk] CD RIPPING PROBLEM

HI ALL,
I'M POSTING THIS BECAUSE I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. Maybe somebody here can
help me diagnose the problem. I have a dell inspiron 6000 which I got last
december. I'm suddenly experiencing problems while ripping cds using cdex
1.51. I notice that the speech be it jfw or windoweyes makes a rattling like
sound during the ripping process. I cannot even do other things while
ripping cds. And some of the cds even though they rip to mp3 I can hear no
sound. When I play the songs in windows media player or on my book courier.
At first, I thought it was because the cd was somehow damaged. But it is
happening too frequently to be simple damage to a cd. It occurs almost every
time I rip to cd. And in several instances, it has taken hours to rip one
cd. I tested the cd drive by going to properties and windows reports that
the device is functioning properly. I'm able to play cds just fine.
So any suggestions or help at all would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to
avoid calling dell tech support if at all possible.
Thanks in advance.
