[gui-talk] Anti-virus and fire walls

Whatever works for you. I've never had a problem with the built in protections. Oftentimes, when I'm helping out a neighbor or friend, I find their "security software" is the cause of their troubles.

I was curious as to why people felt they needed more. Thanks!

Charles, the short answer to your question is that windows firewall doesn't
prevent two-way communication, it only prevents apps inputting to your
system, not your system calling out. I'm open to learning that I'm wrong
about this, but it is a major drawback.

What's wrong with the firewall built into Windows XP Service Pack 2?

Sahir, I haven't found a good firewall program, but I highly recommend NOD32
by eset.com for the antivirus program, which is the same one that GWMicro
suggests.

Hi,

I am looking for an anti-virus and fire wall programs accessible with
Window-Eyes. We have McAfee at home and Norton at work, and neither is
totally accessible. Well, especially McAfee has not been easy to use.
Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
