[gui-talk] enabling bcc in outlook 2003

I just checked this and found out that you're right; the Email CommandBar cannot be focused via the keyboard. That's a bug. Here's an idea though, get the mouse cursor over the message format drop down box (HTML, Plain Text, Rich Text) and click there. Once that's focused, you can press SHIFT+TAB to move the focus backwards to the Options split button. Once that is focused, you can press down arrow to drop down the menu that contains the Show BCC and Show From menu items.

I'm sure there is a simple Word macro command to do this, but I can't find it after a quick search.

Okay, here is a REG command that you can use to enable the field. You'll likely have to restart Outlook after executing the following from the command prompt:

reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Preferences /v ShowBCC /t REG_DWORD /d 01

Replace "11.0" with "10.0" if you are using Outlook 2002. "11.0" is for Outlook 2003.

Good luck,

I see part of the problem that led me to pose the question: I thought I had
disabled Word as the editor, and hadn't. But this brings up a further
question: Does anybody have any thoughts on how to carry out Charles'
nstructions to enable the bcc field
Using JFW? I'm talking about clicking on the split button. Single or
double-clicking on the options button brings up the dialog box, not the
desired menu. Right-click doesn't work and the toolbar doesn't seem
accessible through the ctrl-tab keyboard command off the menu bar. I know I
have other choices, but want to know how to do this if I wanted to. And I
agree with David that Eudora does this automatically. If Eudora hadn't
developed its problem, and if I didn't feel somewhat compelled to use
Outlook since I sometimes teach it, I think Eudora is for me a better
alternative.
