[gui-talk] MS Word and numbered lists question

I think that you need to go to the page of the autoformat dialog that says
"autoformat as you type", which is different from the page labeled
"autoformat"... or at least that's the way it is in old windows 2000
If you want to type a carriage return without having Word insert a new list
item, just hold down shift (I think it's shift) when you hit enter. That
will put a newline in the current list item without putting up a new number.
Whatever it is you are asking or need, hope this is useful.

I assume you mean how do you prevent Word from converting something that
looks like an numbered list into an actual numbered list structure. Anytime
Word makes an automatic change, you can press CTRL+Z (or ALT+BACKSPACE) to
undo the change. After a few times, Word will stop performing the
AutoFormat.
To turn it off from the start, go find the AutoFormat tab of the AutoCorrect
property page (sorry, don't have Word 2003 around to check out the exact
sequence - should be a button on the Options dialog). Then turn off the
various options presented under "Automatically apply..."

Subject: [gui-talk] MS Word and numbered lists question
Hi, listers,
In MS Word version 2003 how do you keep it from automatically numbering a
list? I looked in the Insert menu, pressed enter on the AutoText submenu
item, then selected the AutoText item, and I found the check box for
automatical bulleted lists but nothing about numbered lists.
I am also using Window XP-Pro and Jaws 7.0.
Thank you for any help.
Sincerely,
Allen Maynard
