There's also something else very interesting about Newfoundland.  It is 
one of the few places on the Globe whose time zone isn't an hour or behind 
another.
Newfoundland time (look at a time stamp of one of Ed's msgs) is a hlf hour 
ahead of Atlantic (observed in the Maritime Provinces, Puerto Rico, Virgin 
Islands, among other places) 
and a hour and a half ahead of Eastern.
The province has also had an interesting history and only joined the 
Dominion of Canada in 1949.
And, for the curious, I am not from Newfoundland, have never been there, 
and am not a Canadian.
