You mentioned that some features can be accessed from the explorer bar. In
the past I'd been advised to disable it. Does this still hold? thanks

| You were close. Pressing CTRL+SHIFT+J will cause the Feeds explorer bar
to appear, docked to the left side of the screen. It's a toggle, so
pressing it again will hide it. You can also get to this via the View menu,
and the Explorer Bar sub-menu.
|
| The first item in the feeds list should be selected when the Feed explorer
bar is opened. If the item is a folder, pressing Enter will expand the
folder beneath it. You can then move up and down the list of feeds.
Pressing Enter on a feed will display it's content in the main window pane.
|
| By default, there are three RSS feeds provided, "Microsoft at Home",
"Microsoft at Work", and "MSNBC News". They are located in a sub-folder
called Microsoft Feeds.
|
| If you have OPML file, you can import it using the Import/Export command
from the File menu.
|
| If a web site is offering feeds and IE detects it, it enables the Feed
icon on the toolbar and will optionally play a sound. Pressing ALT+J will
drop down the Feed icon menu and allow you to choose which feed to view.
Mind you, many web sites offer feeds in only one or two formats, so don't
expect much here. Press Enter when the feed menu is shown will show that
feed.
|
| You can then navigate to a link titled "Subscribe to this feed" to add it
to your list of feeds.
|
| All the options for Feeds can be accessed from the Tools menu (ALT+O) and
selecting Internet Options. Navigate to the Content tab and then press the
Settings button next to text about Feeds (ALT+N).
|
| I recommend you turn on the option to synch feeds and to play sounds when
they are discovered.
|
| Good luck! And if you need a RSS feed to read, here is the URL to my
blog's RSS feed. The latest post is about IE keyboard shortcuts.

|
| Hi Charles,
|
| I have made the upgrade after getting the JAWS patch. I notice that it is
| called Windows Internet Explorer, rather Microsoft IE.
|
| My question concerns RSS feeds. I can't seem to get them to display.
When
| IE comes up, I hear one of them, but I can't find them on the screen.
When
| I hit control-I or Control-j, which I think are supposed to bring them up,
| nothing happens. Nor do they seem to be under my favorites. What do I
need
| to do?
