[gui-talk] OE message rules

Laura,
I don't have an answer to your problem, but I'm confused about one thing.
So far as I know, "message rules in OE mean the function you have to set up
from the tools menu to route incoming messages into various folder, and that
sort of thing. It doesn't refer to the blocking function for automatically
deleting messages from someone. That's a different thing.

I suppose you know what you mean, but your saying "message rules" made me
think it might be worthwhile mentioning this.

Good luck.

Subject: [gui-talk] OE message rules

Ok, I have a very weird problem with OE message rules that I hope someone
can help me with.
Now I'd love to know the whole story about message rules -- is there some
sinister, underlying rule I don't know about that would cause blocking rules
to reappear that I had deleted, with no warning???

Here's the problem: I accidently added David Andrews to my blocking list
some time ago when I was learning to do message rules, and immediately went
in and deleted the rul that ablocked his address. Then sometime later I
noticed my deleted items bin was full of messages from Dave, and who knows
how many I lost before discovering this...
Then I went to the message rules and there was the blocking rule that I had
deleted -- so I deleted it again -- but now after months of the same thing
happening, I am beginning to wonder if my pc has something against David
Andrews (sorry Dave) or whether there is some system glitch or whether I am
accidently restoring that rule.
I definitely have not done anything to block anyones email, including
Dave's, and the fact that it doesn't happen to anyone else's address makes
me think my system is somehow restoring that practice rule that I added and
deleted so many months ago.
I just now removed the rule again for the 4th or 5th time, and I am getting
paranoid -- and perhaps Dave is too! *smile*

Has anyone else had this type of problem, and can you think of anything I
could have done to cause it?
Thanks in advance, and I'll try to check my deleted items folder in case
Dave replies...*smile*

Never trust a computer...*smile*
