Sean Randall's SKRead Utility has been updated to version 2.3 beta.

Among the features new in this version is the ability to set speech
rate, pitch and volume and a hotkey to repeat the last message spoken.

SKRead can be downloaded from

http://www.randylaptop.com/projects/skread/

For all those that have not heard of SKREad it is a small utility
plugin for skype that reads out various events such as call status,
contact status information or skype chats. It can use any sapi 5 tts
engine installed on a system. It is screenreader independent and
reads out most if not more information than the jaws scritps for
skype while being a lot more configurable than the jaws scritps in
what is to be read.

While probably primarily of interst to users of screenreadersother
than jaws this may also be an option for users of older jaws versions
or for those who want more configurability of speech than the jaws
scripts currently offer.

I am a jaws user and do use the jaws scritps for easier operation of
the skype interface but rely on SKREad rather than skype watch for a
lot of the events and status information.

Cheers,

Doris
